David Grace Estate Agency expands with EMPM acquisition

The Newton family, known for their prominent presence in the Grantham property market, has announced the acquisition of East Midlands Property Management (EMPM) under their newly established David Grace Estate Agency brand. The move marks a fresh chapter for the Newtons as they set out to blend their extensive industry experience with innovative new ideas.

Newton family’s strategic move into lettings and sales

Mark Newton, with over five decades of estate agency expertise, has partnered with his son David and daughter Grace to acquire EMPM, a well-established lettings firm operating in Grantham and Newark. EMPM, which has managed top-tier properties in the region for nearly 40 years, currently oversees 462 rental properties.

Newton, now chair of the business, stated: “This is a very exciting opportunity for our new brand, David Grace Estate Agency, which is a Newton Family Estate Agency business. I am chair of the new business, with David Newton as MD and Grace Newton as sales director. Although I’m back, it’s definitely David and Grace who are taking everything forwards!”

David Newton added: “The acquisition of EMPM is very exciting, and we are delighted to be returning to the sales and lettings market in Grantham and Newark with our brand-new David Grace Estate Agency business.”

Preserving EMPM’s trusted team and client relations

Unlike many acquisitions that disrupt established structures, the Newtons are keen to maintain stability. Mark Newton emphasised: “I am pleased to confirm that we are retaining all nine members of staff across both branches, which means that tenants and landlords will experience no disruption or change to the management of their properties. Clients will be interacting with exactly the same team that has managed their properties so effectively in previous years.”

Peter Mills, former owner of EMPM who spent 30 years with the business, expressed confidence in the handover: “We have had a number of approaches for the business in recent years, but when the Newton family approached us with their proposals for taking the business forward, we felt it was a perfect match for our clients and our staff. Having personally been involved in the business for 30 years I am confident that the future of East Midlands Property Management is in good hands.”

Future plans for David Grace Estate Agency

EMPM will continue to operate under its original name but in association with the David Grace Estate Agency. A key aspect of the Newtons’ strategy is to introduce a residential sales arm to EMPM over the coming months. As David Newton noted, “The Newton family has a wealth of professional experience in sales and lettings. I have over 20 years of industry experience and have spent the last decade working in a senior management role for one of the largest lettings companies in the country.”

Grace Newton, now Sales Director, has four years of industry experience and is contributing to the official launch of the David Grace Estate Agency in a high-profile location in central Grantham.

“David Grace is a family business that will bring some very new, innovative and fresh ideas to the market,” David Newton continued. “It’s great to be back, doing what we do best, which is providing the very best estate and lettings agency services to buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants.”
